Whole-house repipe jobs are the largest residential service projects a plumber touches. Price them per fixture and per linear foot, then add drywall patching and access time.

Fixture-tier math: why contractor-supplied wins

The profit on contractor-supplied fixtures is not a fee, it's the cornerstone of a healthy plumbing business. When you supply the fixture, you earn markup (usually 40–100% depending on tier), you stand behind the product warranty, and you control the quality.

When the customer supplies: charge more for labor (because you have no fixture margin to absorb the 30-minute box-store run and the “this faucet is missing the cartridge” surprise) and disclaim the fixture warranty in writing.

  • Customer-supplied: $395 labor, no warranty on the faucet, customer owns parts issues.

Water damage risk and the “no-leak” close

  • Main line work always includes a written pressure test step and a photographed final before closing walls.
